With Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, Microsoft gives small and large companies a software solution that makes collaboration between entire departments much more efficient. Thanks to special device licenses (Device CALs), companies can set up flexible systems for as many users per device as they need in no time at all. To enjoy the many benefits of Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, users need the appropriate licenses for individual users or devices. Microsoft offers both person-based licenses (User CALs) and device licenses (Device CALs) at this point. Both license types can also be combined with each other as desired.
User licenses enable personal licensing of Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 for a specific user. This gives the user his or her own access data and, at the same time, device-independent access to the software, regardless of whether it is installed on a stationary computer at the workplace, on a computer in the home office or on a notebook for mobile working.
A Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 Device CAL, on the other hand, allows the software to be installed on a specific device for any number of users. So who uses the device doesn't matter. The Device CAL is not subsequently transferable, i.e. it is not a floating license.
